SPIKE IT PROJECT

SPIKE IT
2007.

The  SPIKE IT project located 6 feet tall spike files in nine offices  to investigate issues of work, flow and waste. Participating offices included; Winchester Gallery, Portsmouth City Council, Gunwharf Management Office, a food import company, and a publishing house. A further spike was  created as the artist’s control spike.

In the SPIKE residencies office workers were asked to dispose of their waste paper using the spike rather than through recycling bins. Driver was able to track office patterns, routines and behaviour through the stratus of waste paper and the monitoring CCTV.
PIKEIT was also shown live in the Millais gallery, with a live web feed to the organisations administrative office.
